  1. Ignore fuqueyu's answer... as a "white eye" in Japan...this is total c**p. Besides the fact that they don't say "white eye," I personally know several "foreigners" who have been teaching in Japan for a long time.

And most of us karate people have heard of CW Nicols, right? He still lives here in Japan. I don't know if he is still doing Karate but he is quite active in Japan in a number of ways.

As for your question about Seagal...

I would hardly say he is a top actor. Maybe he hasn't had much chance to be cast in other roles and so hasn't had a chance to demonstarte his abilities, but that is part of my answer. He hasn't shown anything really special in terms of acting... so I would have to disagree with your second point...

  2. I would not consider him a great actor, but of all the Hollywood martial artists, I would place my money on him.  AT 17 he went to Japan and learned his art, then opened his own dojo.  No other white eye was allowed to do this.

    He is the real thing.

  3. Regardless of what anyone thinks, I still think Steven Segal is a great actor. He just hasn't had any great movies to act in lately. He was unapologetically cast into Hollywood's D list after his last major picture, Exit Wounds, did pretty well at the box office. He was paying extortion money to the mob for a while before the FBI caught on to what was going on, and arrested the men involved in extorting Segal. I hope to see him in another movie that makes it to the theaters soon.
