Is This Religion messed up??

Question

My brother and mom are both Jehovah Witnesses and I want to ask a question, why do they attack people who don't want to join their religion and beliefs?? My brother keeps telling me that the devil takes over me the that's the reason I don't join his beliefs and that I'm also lost in this world cause I don't want to read the bible. He tells me that I am a lost soul in this world because I don't want him to talk to me or ask me to join his religion, he started acting like this after he joined the organization(that's what he calls it)and also tells me that I will not feel the feeling of living in paradise cause I don't believe in his religions belief, does he have the right to judge me differently because I don't want to join his religion. My uncle also told me that he doesn't say blesses to people who aren't witnesses because they are either not baptized or not up to their religious level are they right to judge people by their believe and religion? please help me.

The JW feel that they are the only true religion and they don't care what other feel about their religion.. For everyone in going to h**l but them............... They don't seem to understand that they can not shove their faith down the throats of other but that does not stop them from trying

Yes Jehovah Witness is messed up. They dont celebrate any holidays, and what does that do to children i wonder? Anybody remember that MTV documentary on the Jacksons? The dad's a jw, and look how he wuz. Plus they are too persistent and knock on peoples door trying to get them to join. It's just a knock off of Abrahamic religions.

I am really sorry that you have to go thru that, but JW feel that it is their mission in life to save as many souls as they can, and sometimes they get carried away.  You are right, they have no right to judge you even though they think they do.

The next time they get on you about it,  ask them this simple question, "How would Jesus handle this situation?"   I will tell you the answer,  Jesus never put a gun to anybodies head and made them listen, he just accepted them for who they were.

Religion, in this form, is about fear and control, not true spirituality or belief.  I guess the best answer is that some people mutate religion into something that serves their own base interests (greed, lust, desire to control or hurt others).  The truth of the matter is that no man knows for sure if there is a heaven or h**l, they merely believe (faith) and some use this as a weapon against others (the weak).  I happen to believe that if there is a God, and if this being created the beautiful Earth and Universe, then he/she would never support the use of their name for the abuse of others.  The best thing you can do is simply ignore them until you are out of the house.  Once you have your freedom tell them that you respect their right to believe what they believe, but you have the right to believe what you believe, even if it differs.  If they cannot accept this, then they may have to decide whether or not their need to convert you is worth permanently losing a relationship with you.  These are likely the stakes.  Good luck.

wow that is so not right,i am sorry u have that from ur own family and i dont think that they have the right to judge u. they should not be judging anyone at all just because they do not want to join the "organization". i do not know anyone who likes the johova witnessess exactly for that fact, they for some reason are very pushy and quick to judge when they come across refusing people. they should realize tht we are created equal and have the right to have our own beliefs.

Hi, I think people just misinterpret the Bible.  Then they like lash out at people and like condemn them to h**l lol ;) only because they don't really understand the Bible and they're too afraid to think otherwise.

I agree with Lee N's response, and I would like to expand upon it.

Your family is your own.  You will never be able to change that.  What you can change is their perspective of you, and that could help to strengthen your relationship with them.  What you need to do is sit them down and quietly and calmly demand that they listen to you.  Let them know how horrible this makes you feel, but also let them know that religion is a path of singularity for you: that you are finding it for yourself and that them pushing you and making you feel bad about yourself is actually keeping you from the JW's.  They need to understand that their actions are having an opposite effect than what they want, and that their religion has now become more important than their family and it is destroying the relationships you have with each other.  Also, you need to let them know that if they continue to treat you like that, then they are only pushing you further away, and you don't deserve to be treated like that by anybody.

Another thing I want you to know is that not all Jehovah Witnesses are like that.  Your mother, brother and uncle are blindly following a faith without thinking about the consequences of what's going on in the rest of the world.  Truely good religious people realized that the rest of the world is part of their faith too, and they have to accept that it's more complicated than just getting as many people as they can to follow their belief system.
