Is Zermatt touristy?

Compared to the bigger cities like Lucerne, Berne, and Zurich -

I went there skiing.  Compared to other skiing areas it is quite, but it's a lovely place.

Zermatt is basically touristy due to the fact that the primary source of employment is the tourist trade, unlike the other three cities you mention which are actually well rounded, vibrant, metropolitan areas.  Tourists visit these cities, but they are not primarily tourist driven...

Are you kidding me??? Yes Zermatt is very touristy! I don't know if you think that is a bad thing to be for a town, but if you do: Don't skip it, its well worth it, the mountains are beautiful!
