Both are very big,just imagine the biggest house you have ever seen,most very large houses can sit on just 1 acre with room for a front and back yard !,pool too !!

Big is relative. Just the Conservation Department at Cornell University controls thousands of acres. Some small colleges occupy far less than an acre.

27 is not that big. look at it this way the average house with a back yard and a front yard is about 1/2 an acre  so that would 54 houses which is about 3 or so blocks.

now 170 acres is 340 houses which is about 10 blocks
