Is ambition a good thing?

I'm really ambitious. I constantly feel like my parents sneer at me for being so ambitious, and put me down. Will this affect me?

It depends on the motive for your ambition. Is it to prove your parents or someone else wrong? Is it to look better than others?

If it is your divine purpose it will benefit everyone you contact.

It is good. Perhaps less so if you compromise principle - if you have any.

It will only effect you if you let it. Abide by your parents rules of course but unless they are TELLING you that you shouldn't be abitious (why they would say something like that is beyond me) you've got nothing to worry about. If you just THINK that they are thinking that and you are worried about it, talk to them. I seriuosly doubt your parents would be angry if you're abitious .Don't let it bother you though.

Ambition is a good thing - that is partly why we get out of bed every morning.

If you believe that your parents are sneering at you , you should very kindly ask for a little family meeting and tell them how you feel and ask them if it is really the way they feel.

Perhaps they are not taking your ambitions seriously . Or just think what you are saying is 'cute'.

yes, you are a young people and have dreams and you think life is full of good things, you want to do something adventutous.It is too natural..

Your family behave so, it is natural too, because they know the real life, they lived bad parts of it...They made real all of their dreams or not, now they have no dreams...

To be ambitious is a good thing, but it may cause dissapointing...You will learn the life...

"Life which has no purpose, is like a tree which casts no shadow, a poisonous weed."  Ambition and purpose mean about the same thing:  What I wish or imagine to be in this life and what I am doing about it. Go ahead. Be ambitious. Don't bother about what other people say or do about it. Just do it! More power!
