  1. Well , actually being vegan isn't hard at all. I became vegan almost 10 years ago, and once I got the hang of it, it hasn't been difficult, and now the thought of eating animal-based foods I once enjoyed seems totally foreign to me.

I will say that the process of going from vegetarian to vegan took a while to get use to, mainly becuase eating only vegan food is less convienient, and it takes a while to learn what foods are and are not vegan, and which restaraunts have things you can eat.

  2. I am a vegan and I love it.  I am so healthy.  I feel great.  I am not a picky eater so I enjoy eating a variety.  Just a heads up, cotton does not come from animals.  I am not a fan of eggs so it wasn't a big deal for me.  It was hard giving up dairy at first but I found alternatives.  I drink rice milk which is so delicious.  It has calcium, Vitamin D, and B12.  I found an icecream alternative called Rice Dream which is so good.  Just read ingredients for eggs and milk.  Also, whey and casein come from milk.

  3. In the past month, I went from a carne asada loving girl to a 100% vegan. I never thought about the animals until my friend let me borrow the book Skinny *****. That night I completley cut out all animal products from my life. I know most people say to do it slowly but for me just the thought of it being MY FAULT an animal has to suffer made me sick to my stomach.

And honestly I haven't found it hard at all. Its been interesting. (I am normally not one to try new foods) but its been an adventure. I feel really good, and feel like just one person can make a difference.

Its funny because in ONE DAY my views changed, I feel horrible that I ever ate meat to begin with. Once you make the decision to go vegan you just feel better inside. Physically and emotionally.

There are so many alternatives out there for substituting eggs and dairy, you will wonder why you didn't do it before.

  4. i am in your same situation....cotton? is that bad? i never knew

  5. Those of us who are gastronomes could never become vegans. But lots of people couldn't care less about the taste of the food they eat, and being a vegan is not so hard for them from a taste point of view. (Nutrition is another story.)

  6. It really isn't too hard to go vegan, at least in my experience. Just make the transition at your own pace. (It doesn't need to be an overnight, all-or-nothing switch.) These days, there are vegan versions of almost everything -- milk, cheese, cream cheese, butter, mayo, ice cream, and even whipped cream! Tofu scramble is a good alternative to scrambled eggs, and there are also powdered egg substitutes to replace eggs when baking.

    I hope this helps.

  7. Hun, cotton comes from a plant, not an animal.

Being a vegan is easy, pretty much because there are substitues for both milk and eggs.  There is soy milk, rice milk and hemp milk.  I prefer soy milk myself, and it comes in plain, chocolate, vanilla, and even more flavors.  It's Mmm-mmm delicious!!!

As for eggs, there are substitutes for those too.  But I never liked eggs personally so I didn't bother looking.  As for baking, eggs aren't necessary.  They serve only as a texture alterer and there are other things you can use for that.

All you really have to do is find the subsitutes and be sure to always check the ingredients before you buy food.  Lots of companies like to put egg whites or whey in things.

If you're doing it because you love animals, remember that if you eat eggs, you're financing the abuse of hens.  If you drink milk or eat cheese, you're financing the abuse of dairy cows and the slaughtering of their babies.

  8. I wouldn't know I've never drank cow puss or ate chicken period.
