Is cassis, france worth visiting?

is cassis, france worth visiting? i read about the calanques boat tours. what is the best way to get there from marseille? are the private tours worthwhile? or should we take the train/bus to cassis ourselves? thanks in advance.

I can give you a partial answer.  We were driving around that part of the French Med coast last May, and drove into Cassis with a day to spare, to check on Calanques tours (we could have done one the next day).  We got very frustrated and gave up, because there was no way to find out anything.  It may well be that if you stay at a hotel in Cassis, you can find out.  I've seen videos of the Calanques boat tours, and they seem really nice.  After our trip, I did some more research, and I think there are more boats going to the Calanques out the Marseilles harbor than out of Cassis.

My one piece of advice would be not to take a trip to Cassis without knowing where to go for tours.  Sure didn't work for us.

Easy to reach Cassis from Marseille!

Don't miss the "route des crêtes" a scenic route on top of the cliffs averlooking the blue mad !The best way is to rent a little motorcycle in Marseille and stop where you want : assle free !
