  1. I don't know if I'd use the word "amazing" but its certainly a very nice place.

Pay no attention to people who say the French are rude. Such complaints are usually from dolts, especially Americans,  who are incapable of understanding that there are cultural differences between the France and their own country.

France is a highly cultured society, far more intellectual and introspective than, for example, the United States.

French cuisine is excellent and depends on the notions of locally grown high quality produce prepared with meticulous attention to technique.

France's long history, often as the premier power of continental Europe, is reflected in its vast quantity of superb art, magnificent architecture, and globally significant historical sites.

You can, for example, go to Paris and eat in the same cafe, Le Procope, in the same location, where Benjamin Franklin and Voltaire ate or have a cup of coffee at the same table at the Cafe de Deux Magots where Jean Paul Sartre held forth.

It is, if not amazing, then certainly interesting, to wander the streets of Paris and tread on the same streets that have been trod by Hemingway, Alice B. Toklas, James Joyce, Pablo Picasso, F. Scott Fitzgerald,  Utrillo, Toulouse Lautrec, Moliere, Voltaire, Alexandre Dumas, and a thousand other literary, artistic and philosophical giants.

The French have an appreciation of life and good living that is unmatched by anyone. There is an ambiance that is found in its cafe life and society in general that is found in few other places.

Whether its hanging out in a jazz club, dancing till the early morning hours or just sitting in a cafe and watching the world go by, life in France is as pleasant as anywhere on Earth.

  2. anywhere can be ah-mazinggg if you go there with rose coloured spectacles on

France is a beautiful country with some great sights to see and things to do ... but it is also a real country where people go about making their life and their living ... it is not Disney Land

like anywhere, if you go there with an open mind, as few preconceptions as possible and are willing to learn and to listen, you will find out much about other points of view and ways of doing things ... and if you're really lucky you will come away understanding more about life and about yourself

  3. I had a great time when I was there. As long as you respect the differences between your culture and theirs people are perfectly nice for the most part. By the way, there are plenty of rude people in the US as well...

  4. Truthfully i don't like France all that much the people are kind of rude to anyone who isn't French, but it depends on where you go. Alot of nice sites to see, many places to eat, but not as nice as you would might think.

  5. I am from England, and i must say France is a wonderful country and in my opinion yes, it is amazing.

I AM SICK of hearing this rubbish about the French being rude. I  have to say most of these comments come from Americans who go to France thinking they are superior to everyone else, act loud and stupid and make no effort to speak French at all........ and then wonder why the French people do not seem to 'enthused' to be around them.

My French is poor, but i have noticed that everytime i go to France i try to speak a little French and the people acknowledge this and they respect you a lot for making an effort. If a French person came up to an American in  the USA and started talking French.......they'd probably get a mouthful of abuse!!!

.........moving on! Yes, do visit France it is beautiful, Paris is a wonderful city with so much to see and do, and  i can also personally recommend Nice and Lyon as very nice places to go see ;-)

I hope you get round to your trip there, have a great time!!!

****P.S. - I was not insulting all American people in my rant above, as i know a lot of ya'll are just fine ;-) ****

  6. france is amazing. i've wanted to go back and live there ever since i first visited. i guess it is a matter of personal opinion though. if you love good food, good wine, good culture and good fashion, france is good for all these things! also the landscapes, although simple are simply stunning.

The french are not rude people as long as you try your best to start a conversation in french. a simple bonjour, will do and if you explain cant speak french (je ne parle pas francais) they will be happy to do their best to speak english to you. its like if someone went to england and didnt even try to speak a word of english, the english would get annoyed and frustrated.
