Is hollywood selfish?

How often do Hollywood celebrities donate money to help the issues that this world faces...From poverty, to aids awareness, to diseases, to cancer patients...How often do Hollywood celebrities help out? They have so much money that they could clearly make a difference....But they don't seem to do anything...or do they?

In India, the bollywood celebrities donate millions of dollars...Shahrukh Khan just donated 16 million to build shelters for the poor. Aishwarya donated 6 million for education regarding aids awareness( Last Week)...A producer by the name of Yash Raj donated 32 million (over a span of couple years) for various issues. They all donate money because they have enough to make a differance...

Shouldn't hollywood celebs do the same?

I believe celebrities here in America could give and do more to help the less fortunate. Some have and that might be the reason why most don't. Why is because the giving celebrities are being taken for granted.The rich celebrities feel they deserve what they make however if it wasn't for fan support they would be out of work and money.

yea some are show offs an dont care, but will smith & angelina jolie are good ppl, they help out.

they do but not as much as Bolllywood does. because in Bollywood its not all about s*x, drugs and rock and roll .

Some DO give money and volunteer for various charities.  The most recent I saw was Brad Pitt helping to rebuild houses in the Katrina Hurricane areas.  Pitt and Jolie have also given alot of money to Hurricane Relief funds.  I believe they also give alot of money to other various organizations having to do with children.  They are not the only ones that give.  I don't believe it is always first on the headlines when people donate money or time to charity-that is why it is called "charity".  One is not supposed to advertise when one does a good deed.
