  1. Of course not. It is part of the title for our species.

  2. In French, it's used to refer to g**s and it's not considered offensive at all. so no. there's nothing bad about the word.

  3. homo in Greek means same like homosexual or homo stasis or homoginized.............but the Latin word also appears often, it means man like homoside, homesapien, or hombre

  4. I do not believe there are any "good" or "bad" words, only good or bad intentions. If you call someone a "poopy head" in an attempt to insult him it is bad, but if you use the F word to describe something ("That F--ing fish he caught was huge!") it is not bad. Any word in our vocabulary that is considered "bad" has gotten that tag because some idiot (idiot is a bad word in this case) somewhere along the way decided it was offensive, and it gained that label, or because it is almost always used in a negative context.

That being said, I cannot think of any situation where the word "homo" would be used in a way that was not negative. Would you every use the word "homo" as a compliment? Is there ever a situation where you call someone a "homo" and are not attempting to insult him? Is there ever a situation where a person being called a "homo" is not offended?

  5. if ya call someone a homo yes if you mean man or same no.

  6. "Homo sapiens". Does it hurt?

  7. It does not mean "same" it means "man." A homosexual is a man that prefers a man. In science it means man or people or human.  Where do you think the word human comes from?

Homo comes from Latin which is used in science. The word "people" also comes from Latin as well as "population."  "Man" comes from the German.  Homo is not a bad word unless you are trying to use it that way.

  8. The word homo is never used without a tag on.

IE: homogeneous, homogenize, etc. It is used by itself only with the capital, Homo sapien & Homo erectus etc, in the study of Anthropology.

  9. It depends on the context.

  10. The literal translation of homo is merely 'same'.  So the word itself is not bad...it's bad because of the context.  Many of our curse words are not literally bad.  I mean calling someone a female dog or saying they are joyful isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make sense but neither does calling someone a 'same'.  You should not call people homo because it is insulting and deragotory, but the word itself is not bad, but of course there is no such thing as a bad word...merely words which we make bad.

  11. no it's not a bad word

  12. Literally, "homo" only means "same". As in "homogenous". Almost any verb or noun can be used to insult or injure someone. It all depends on the INTENT of the speaker.
