  1. If you mean of a book, i think yes it is decreasing.

there have been sooooo much "distractions" like the computer *tehe* tv, etc that people much rather spend their time than read a boring old book. Also, its not the fact that i dotn read, its just, when i read a book it really has to be interesting for my taste. it really has to be interesting, i can just sit there and read a story about nothing. and i defintly cant read books with a whole lot of detail, there can be lots of colorful words in the book to help describe, but if the explaining goes on forever...then im like "okay im done"

also, the book cant just be like, okay, friends, fight, make up...that sort of thing. It can be, but there has to be many interesting events that happen...i usually prefer books that are fantasy. Like the Twilight series (vampires and werewolves) or Eragon (dragons)

How can we revive? Idk...i think that some of the creativity is sort of dying from authors...but idk...

  2. decreasing.

Bring more conventional/mainstream readings/texts on espionage, money, and s*x.

  3. There is a lot of people who read...but only a little at a time...like magazines...or the internet...or newspaper....or books they have to for school or work....

but a the same time....if a book is really good...it will find readers to read it...

  4. Yes and no.  Traditional reading among adults have decreased slightly due to the increasing number of audio books which can be downloaded onto an ipod or mp3 player. The number of children reading has bounced between the same percentage and a slight increase.  Since children are our future I think its important to encourage their interest in books.  One way to accomplish this discouraging feat is to throw away most educators' beliefs and practices.  We cannot force feed books that WE feel children will enjoy reading and expect them to become avid readers.  As educators we need to expand our own selection of books so today's children can be free to explore what they are interested in reading.
