Question:

Is it my picture tube? Helppppppp?

My tv went black I was watching it and it just went black no sound either only the channel area is lit up. Can this be my picture tube????/

  1. Not likely, as you say you also lost sound. That would indicate a power supply problem. Some more modern TVs have a monitor system that will shut them down for all sorts of reasons, including false alarms. Try un-plugging it from the electric and let it sit for awhile, to let the memory to bleed off. Then re-connect it and see if it comes back on. If not, it may have to go to a service shop. The tube is not going to be the problem, it is the lack of power going to it that is the case.


  2. If you have a CRT( Cathode Ray Tube) type of T.V. it may have been slow to come on for a long while before the main Picture Tube went out. However, you probally just lost the power. Unfortunately, with the current crop of TVs from over seas the power input is probally tied into a large tranformer. Hard to do anything about yourself. The voltage can be 25,000 in the back of the set. Not a good place to stick your hand or a screwdriver unless you have had training. See a good tech for a check up. But, don't forget to check the power cord and basic stuff first.
