Is it worth it ?

some scientist created a coliider that could help solve spaces mysteries, on the other hand there is the small possibility it can destroy the world. their turning it on in august! i havent even turned 14 yet, is some stupid invention worth the planet?

it isn't a possibility of it destroying the planet... there is NO possibility of it destroying the planet. look, your only 14. worry about school, but leave this problem up to the astrophysicists. we would be the first ones to be concered. the "atom smasher" (which is a misnomer) has been around for a long time. we've been creating mini black holes for decades, but no one payed any attention until people got the idea that the world was going to end. if there was the slightest chance that the worls would end as a result of the LHC, we would've pulled the plug on it a long time ago. we conducted a test in 2003 that proved everything is safe.

Don't worry it won't destroy the planet.  However if the Large Hadron Collider answers the question of gravity you being so young may be a direct beneficiary of the science that will follow.  It could mean a whole new way of life for everyone in the next 30 years.

if you are really worried, don't be... anything the collider can produce will have such a short life that only the best equipment will even show it existed!

still, it makes a cool premise for a sci fi story, no?

now try and realize that particle accelerators have been around since before the Atomic Bomb....lke 1937 or so..... have any of them destroyed the Earth YET?????... give the science guys a little credit, willya?....
