Is limewire now illegal in canada?

the program isnt but some of the content is so be careful with what you download from it.

LimeWire itself isn't illegal, but if you use it to download copyrighted files for free (this includes music, pictures, videos and even documents) that you are effectivley stealing form the owners and THAT is illegal.

This is regardless fowhatever country you're in, the law is the same all over. If you share things whihc have a licence on LimeWire than that is fine, as the owner has given you permission to download the file. Otherwise you are doing something illegal.

Limewire, like BitTorrent, is legal and has always been. Say you wanted to share music that you made yourself, or one of your original pictures. It's legal for that, but once you start downloading copyrighted things, like most music, it's illegal and has been.

Limewire itself is legal, but whatever you download from it, no matter where you live is illegal. As far as fines go it could be 500 dollars and up, not to mention the fact of the risk of virus's and spyware that can infect your computer. Seeing as limewire is peer to peer, many your downloading a song from someone elses computer and if that person is infected with virus's, you computer can become infected as well.

I use itunes, but the only downside to itunes is your limited to your own country, as you can't download from say the US or Japan, or whatever you want. Which kind of sucks if you ask me. But either way I would stick with itunes and Amazon.com for downloads, it's legal and you wont get infected.
