  1. It depends on your first language or mother's tongue, if your first language is Japanese which share words with the Chinese language no, you only need to learn the different ways to pronounce the same words in Mandarin, most words have the exact same meaning.

Mandarin's grammar is easier than Japanese grammar. This is just an example.

It is like Spanish speakers, for them learning French isn't difficult.

  2. Not really,it;s just  a word may have 4 diferrent meanings if spoken on a wrong  or not suitable tonal value. But you;ll get over it as  you go on learning.Since you 're an alphabet user.its important that you learn pinyin first which is very fun.Pinyin is the chinese word written in abc's.so westerners can say a Chinese word instantly.Tutorial books often pair pinyin with its english word sound counter part.i.e guo =g+war or gou= go as in let's go,etc

  3. The grammar for chinese is exactly the same as english. Subject Verb  So that should cut down a lot of work for you. But learning how to read and write might be a challenge. the strokes and the correct way the letter should be written may take more time than necessary. Also pronouncing the word might be a bit difficult. Remember to use your nasal passages to help pronouce the letter.
