I am curious about something. I asked some doctors to see what they think but I want to hear the general public. In the past if a child was born with a disorder it usually either died soon after birth or was eaten/killed in his/her later years. That is nature's way of perfecting itself because this child will not be able to have children (because it won't survive maturity or people will not want to mate with it) and since it doesn't have children it will not pass on the gene. These days it will be unthinkable not to help such people. Are we actually helping our kind that way though? If you think about it we are actually messing with the genes (not directly). Think about how we live you will find lots of things like this. So why are most people against gene modification? These days we develop a lot of new things and we do it fast - faster than we (our body) can adapt to them. With gene modification you can speed this process up, can't you?
