Is my cable box shot?

After I had a power outage yesterday my cable box hasn't been working. It keeps trying to boot up and then shuts back down. I have Bright House by the way. Anyway, I went online and did the troubleshooting tips and it said to unplug the power cord for a minute and then plug it back in and it should work. I did that and it didn't work. I tried for an hour to get through last night to these people and got no one. Can anyone help? Do I need a new cable box?
