Question:

Is my fiance dodging marriage?

We've been together for a while. In February, we were joined in a handfasting ceremony. Even then, we both said we wanted to make it legal. Well, we've set 4 dates, planned 4 ceremonies, made a 'final decision' on 3 different rings, and every time, he has a reason not to go through with it. He says he wants to marry me and be with me forever. But I don't see it.

What do you think? Should I wait it out and hope he comes around? Or should I leave him?

  1. It sound like he has a commitment problem. I wouldn't personally waste any more of my time on him. He either wants to marry you or he doesn't.

  2. is he married to someone else already?

  3. Sounds like he is just biding his time until he finds someone better or you dump him. Cold feet like that never do warm up.

  4. What don't you understand about:  a)cancelling 4 dates, b)cancelling ceremony plans,c)cancelling rings, d) finding several reasons for a delay, e) being a real man and proposing once and for all?! You don't really need to leave HIM, honey, he's already left YOU emotionally and spiritually. Time for him to move out physically.

  5. If you are living with him, move out.  Why would he want to get married if he has all the benefits with out the certificate?  You need to decide if being with him without marriage is good enough for you.

  6. Why don't you talk to him about it. Instead of asking us what's wrong with your fiance you will only get and answer from him.

  7. keep your options open maybe he will come around but maybe not so I would ask him one day! say something like "Are you getting the cold shoulder on me??" I think if he loves you enough he will come around if not go to someone new you are to good for him anyway!!

  8. hold on you need to work out wether or not he is scared or doesnt want to get married, it may not have anything to do with the fact of marrying you it is probably something simple, if your going to break up with him over a weeding thats pretty lame, not ever1 gets married ive been engaged for 6 yrs and still havent bothered to wed cause life gets harder after a wed and just think about it if you break up its heaps cheaper than filing for devorce. just be calm relax and let what ever happens happen, Talk to him that will be the best answer

  9. Yes he is dodging.  He might be saying it because you want to hear it but he is not ready and may never be.  Only you know if you love him enough to simply stay with him or if you want and need marriage.  IF you wantthe marriage you may have to look elsewhere.
