Question:

Is plasterboard safe?

I'm taking out an old range (cooker) out of an old house. The plaster on the wall behind the old range isn't in great nick. I'm putting in a Stanley Super 90 (now called the Comeragh model) and I'm wondering if I can put plasterboard behind the new range. Is it safe? I would have to cut a hole in the plasterboard to get the pipe from the range connect to the chimney. Is this safe? Or would the heat be too much?

  1. Yes you can buy fire rated plaster board and it is perfectly safe to use provided you leave the proper clearance around the exhaust pipe and the plaster board.
