Is pom or dancing a sport?

do not give me c**p about how we need a judge or a way to compete becuz they do compete and they do have judges

Dancing isn't a sport it is a form of art, but dancers are not only artists but Athletes as well.

No it's Performance Art or Aerobic Exercise, with aesthetic and subliminal appeal.

I don't know if dancing is considered a sport, but it gets you more of a workout than most sports. I think it's more considered an art, but... I think you could convince someone it was a sport.

ofcourse not. Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Basically you dont need to hire a judge in order to compete. If i decided to 'play' pom or dance with a few friends today, how would i win or lose?

Hence by definition, it isnt a sport.

Personally I am a dancer, and i wouldn't say it is a sport mostly because a sport is considered head to head competition. Dancing would be considered more of a preforming art because of the musicality, and the movements you do. But Dancers do get more physical activity then some sports do, in fact dancing is considered a very hard activity to do, especially if you do it professionally or are on a dance team. So it may not be a sport but dancers are considered athletes.

Athletic? Yes.  A sport? No.

A sport is a head to head competition.  Dancing is decided by judges and is based in part on opinion.

not officially... but it is becoming one, though. They are just getting the kinks out of cheerleading becoming a sport...but it will be soon and all of the "rules" will be changed.

yes, it can be classified as both really because you can do it for a sport like dance team but also you can use for like school dances and clubbing.
