  1. No, its not free


  2. Yes.  Gluten would have been mostly removed during the fermentation process of the mesh as fermentative yeasts absorbed the nutrients.  Further filtering and distillation would have eliminated gluten for anyone who is sensitive to it.

  3. 'fraid not. All types of whisky/whiskey are made from gluten-containing grains. Most beer also has the same problem.

    Brandy/cognac, gin, some types of vodka and some rum should be safe.

    NB. Manufacturers often claim gluten will have been removed, didadidadida. But most celiacs report getting the symptoms they would expect from being glutened. not worth the risk...
