  1. The greenhouse effect, which is basically what happens when heat gets trapped in the earth's atmosphere due to the release of greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4) is incredibly bad.

It is one of the primary factors of global warming, which is melting the polar ice caps, raising sea levels, and heightening global temperatures. Believe me, I should know. I live in a caribbean country and this is the hottest summer we've ever had.

  2. The phenomenon whereby the earth's atmosphere traps solar radiation, caused by the presence in the atmosphere of gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapour, and methane that allow incoming sunlight to pass through but absorb heat radiated back from the earth's surface

The burning of fossil fuels adds carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, and therefore places the Earth at risk from an increase of this effect.

Warming will trigger some processes which speed further warming, and other effects which mitigate it. The balance between these positive and negative feedbacks is a major cause of uncertainty in climate predictions.

  3. Check these and draw your conclusions.
