  1. The last I heard on the news, tomato and now other things, like jalapeno peppers, and salsa were also affected.  Stuff from Mexico.

  2. No, in fact they have no idea why some 1148 people have gotten sick. It is really unbelievable. Our food supply is wide open.

  3. The scare of the week has passed.

  4. no they have not found the thing that has poisoned people but they are still looking and it maybe not just in the tomatoes or maybe isnt' it altogether.  but something is.

  5. It's on baby!

  6. read same thing,am growing tomatoes every year now

  7. Now the FDA is blaming peppers. The whole thing has been blown up WAY too much. A few people got sick, so they say no one should have tomatoes anymore, and now no peppers either. It's not like salmonella starts in vegetables, anyway. The REAL original source is the animals on factory farms. So that's what actually caused the outbreak, factory farming. Bottom line, don't be scared to eat vegetables, it's the filthy meat that causes food poisoning.

  8. Now they are saying that they do not know the source of the problem.  They are checking peppers, onions, and other things served with tomatoes--like the things found in salsa.  For the moment, it just seems to be a matter of taking one's chances.  I guess that washing fresh fruits and vegetables with one of the washes made for that purpose, and cooking things thoroughly is the best one can do.

  9. i dont care tomatos creep me out anyways they're too red.:(

  10. The 'scare' is still on, by the FDA has cleared certain regions from being the possible source (e.g. those that had not even started planting when the outbreak began).

The Subway sign just says something along the lines of "These tomatoes are safe to serve. The FDA has approved the region where these tomatoes were grown".  The sign is packaged in every box.

Subway has alot of resources, so they're more than able to pick and choose where they get their produce from.

  11. Actually right now they're looking into jalepeno peppers and say that tomatoes seem to be fine for the moment.

  12. I've heard they have lifted their concerns about tomatoes. Now they are focusing on jalapeno peppers. It seems people got sick from eating salsa so they determined at first it was tomatoes. They still think Mexico and/or Florida might be to blame for the out-break of all the illnesses. Guess they are still investigating the cause, but tomatoes seem to be off the list. All the restaurants I visit are now serving tomatoes again.
