who just can not call themselves a republican any longer. Who still doesn't believe in abortion, but thinks right now in this country there are other problems that are getting much more out of hand, and think they need to be worked on by our government. Who believes we need to let God, prayer, and education take care of the abortion issue.

  1. I could never call myself a republican.

  2. I agree!  Two words:  Social Security!!

  3. It is highly irresponsible to let a single issue (like abortion) take precedence over all else.  In spite of numerous conservative presidents elected in the past 3 decades since Roe v. Wade, abortion has not decreased in availability or legality.  Meaning all of the people who assign their votes solely to the pro-life candidate are wasting their vote on an issue that is not changing.

Meanwhile, many issues DO change.  For instance, our pro-life current president has been responsible for 4000 deaths of Americans, not to mention even higher numbers of Iraqis by going into an unjustified war and tearing up the tentative balance in a country that now suffers constant bombings and small terrorist attacks.  The number of babies aborted would have remained essentially equal whether there were a Republican or a Democrat or otherwise in the White House.  However, because we had a warmonger in office, we have caused numerous ADDITIONAL deaths, thousands of American and Iraqi deaths.

Anyone who pretends they have acted righteously by saving children with a pro-life vote is deluding themselves.  Babies are still getting murdered in spite of that stupid vote.  So really, all the conservative vote did was enable a hotheaded man with the power to cause MORE deaths.  I cannot consider someone intelligent in any sense when they base their vote entirely on something so ridiculous, in spite of all the evidence that shows the folly of that vote.

(It doesn't help that conservatives also oppose good, solid, realistic s*x education.  Abstinence-only is a cute idea, but one that doesn't work.  If protection were more readily available, easily understood, and heavily supported by mainstream culture, the unwanted children would just never be made, essentially ending the to-kill-it or not discussion.)
