I recently completed my first year of racing, and would like to get better. I am 15 years old, and am going to be a junior in HS. My best erg time was a 1:46.5 500m split for 1500m. It was the 3rd best on my team. But for a 180 lb. rower, is this a relatively decent time?

  1. awesome!!!! that's so cool that u do that!!! good job! i'm 15 too and i luv guyz that race. that's a very good time. keep up the good work!!! don't quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Well, it dependes on what level would you like to compete. For a B Junior and 180 lb it isn't SO fast on racing level, but it seems that you have a potential. My advice to you would be not to miss trainings because rowing is not a sport of talent, but only of hard work. Reduce candies, eat healthy food and result should come.

Finally, you should keep in mind that pure ergometers doesn't do the job alone. Technique is what makes rowers fast. Focus on technique! There are many rowers on World Championship that aren's so fast on ergometer, but they excell with their technique, sence of rhytm and fighting skill

    Good Luck!!!

P.S. I compete for more than 8 years...

  3. thats great for a junior in hs

most of the guys we have 160-220 are just barely faster (138-143/500 for a 2000) and this is the top end of a d3 college team

Im a lightweight  155 and i can barely break 130 on just a 500m so yea think youre set for college but olympics and senior nationals are way off

  4. yess!! thats actually very good!
