Is this a job scam?

I have registered in timesjobs.com for online application and received emails indicating the following:

1. My application has been shortlisted

2. Received online interview with GULF OIL International Company LOGO

3. Job offer (note: without interview from the HR of the Company)

The monthly salary they offer is 9,920 Great Britain Pounds per month plus other benefits such as car, house, life insurance, laptops, phone and others.

I'd suggest checking the company out online as far as website and then contact them by email and inquire about their hiring process and any current openings. You can probably tell them about the contact information you received and if that person, email, and phone number does exist within the company, There are a lot of job scams out there now, specially the ones you get in email referring to being a Representative for some offshore textile, art companies. You do end up getting a check, but beware, the check you get is a FRAUD. See these companies want you to cash the check you get from one of their customers, take your 10% out, then send them the rest by Western Union. What they don't tell you is that the check you receive is stolen or from a closed/ non-existing account. You get stuck with the consequences of cashing the fraudulent check.
