Is this a mushroom?

Question

I found this in my yard the other day. The outside what soft and came off easily like moth dust and the inside was brown kinda like dirt. I removed it because I have a 17 month old and didn't want him to eat it. I kinda think it was some kind of fungi or mushroom but I have never seen this before. I live in SE Texas if that helps.

Sorry, linky no worky.  Sounds like a puffball, though; it's a fungus, but technically non-toxic.

i think its not a mushroom and maybe its another kind of fungus or something...

Wow thats gross.  It looks like puke.

I think its some sort of mold/fungus.  Although its probably not harmful, its good that you removed it...it very well could make a young child sick.

Maybe a variation of "dog puke mushroom" (aka dog vomit slime mold).
