Is this barrel ok....?

is it ok to shoot rifled slugs threw this shotgun.

i dont no much about shooting yet, im gonna try to get into hunting this year with one of my friends. no one in my family hunts so im pretty much starting from scratch and dont no much about anything. i just wanna no if i can shoot a slug threw that barrel, im getting that gun soon and wanna make sure.

I have that exact gun, a Mossberg 500, and you can shoot slugs through it all day long.

Dont know where you live but if rifles arent allowed for deer you might also check into a muzzloader. Most inline frontstuffers will impress the heck out of ya on accuracy and range. The downside is you have to reload after every shot and its not that quick.

Yes, I am VERY experienced with guns and you CAN shoot a Shotgun slug threw that barrel.

This is a nice shotgun but this barrel is not made to handle slugs. You can easly buy an extra slug barrel cheap that is can be switched on the Mossberg.

the ones on here telling you that you can't shoot slugs with that gun don't know what they are talking about......as long as you have an improved cylinder or modified choke you can shoot all the slugs you want

No, get a slug barrel, you can shoot buckshot through that but you'll likely damage it with slugs.

Most shotgun barrels designed for shot have a choke at the end, where the barrel gets slightly smaller to give you a shot pattern at a tuned distance.  That's the part that'll get messed up...

Edit:  Aside from that, a sabbat barrel will give you much greater range and accuracy, they're sited so you can actually hit something depending on range.

Yes you can, just make sure you are using a cylinder, or improved cylinder choke only, because manufactures recommend it for maximum accuracy, and so you don't damage the barrel.*
