I work in a hospital doing janitorial work/housekeeping. my boss complains to me about the time i am clocking in. he told me when i was hired i could clock in at 2:53. and could clock out at 6:53 due to the 7 minute window in the system. then today told me to not do it anymore. But he allows the women (housekeepers) to hang out in his office with him for anywhere from 45 mins to 30 mins before they clock out 7 mins before the hour.when he would never allow me to do hang out in there. where they just hang out and do not work. and i am supposed to be doing something the whole time. Also when i was hired i asked to be placed on a different shift and a few weeks later he hired a girl and placed her on the shift i asked to fill. Also it seems he is alot nicer to them.

  1. yes i would say it is discrimination. try talking to him and be upfront about how you feel he is behaving.

  2. I would think that it is.  A supervisor is supposed to act professionally and treat all his/her employees equally.  He shouldn't be schmoozing it up with the women in hopes of getting some action for them.  He should treat the male employees the same as the female employees.  It's a workplace not a bar where you're trying to get laid.
