We have a mouse who is a little on the large side. Her nipples are swollen and she's been very testy lately, do you think she could be pregnant?

  1. Sounds pregnant to me.

Make sure you separate the male babies away from their mom ASAP after she has them. If you dont, you may be getting more babies.

  2. sound like it to me look at this site for info on the babies and pregnancy

  3. If she's been with a male sometime, even if it was only for a few minutes, then definately. She's pregnant. Those are classic symptoms of pregnancy. I'd suggest removing her from other mice if there are any and keep her on her own otherwise when she has the babies they might eat them. Make sure she's well fed, if she hasn't got enough food she may eat the babies herself when they're born. Also make sure she has a home in which she can make a nest and one last thing, avoid handling her too much. Handling her could cause a miss-carriage. As much as you can don't go near her except to feed her and clean the cage, if you disturb her too much during the first few weeks of the babies lives she may eat them. Mice are very bad in that regard. Don't be surprised if she eats them for no reason. Although I hope that doesn't happen and good luck. Enjoy them while you can. They don't stay little for long.

  4. Sounds pregnant to me. Start feeding her more and supplementing her diet with healthy stuff also.

It is important to provide pregnant mice with a few extra amenities.  Throughout the pregnancy many of the nutrients she consumes will go straight to her babies.  You should feed her with a higher fat diet with more sunflower seeds, peanuts, and millet.

  5. If she has had a "boyfriend" over...most likely YES.

The gestation is short in small mammals...a matter of weeks as I recall from my guinea pig animal husnabdry.

  6. i think she is pregnant
