Is this normal biological behavior?

Every now and then, I'll think I taste something.

It's sweet and I know I like it, but I can't put my finger on what I am tasting.

It's more like I think I smell it, and i know taste holds the hand of smell.

If this does not interfer with your normal life, don't worry to much.  If on the other hand it is something common to you, or comes at times of great stress, you may need help.

Not meaning to alarm you but olfactory hallucinations are not uncommon in some psychological conditions.  Also, there are people called "synestagiacs" that can taste colors and hear flavors.  let your Doctor know about this on your next visit, and if you suffer any other psychological conditions get help at once.
