is this choke right for this gun for shooting slugs at deer. im still tryin to figure this whole thing out, lol.

heres the links, first is the choke then the shotgun:

the gun is a model 500 all purpose with a 28" barrel.

  1. Second question, a slug barrel usually doesn't have choke tubes.  They come either fully rifled for use with sabot slugs or smooth bore for use with rifled slugs.  Most slug barrels have rifle sights in place of a bead making aiming much easier or a scope mount ready to mount well a scope.


  2. Cylinder or improved cylinder are both acceptable for shooting slugs.  But you should be aware that there are rifled choke tubes especially designed for shooting slugs that would be even better.

    Good choice of shotguns.  I've used Mossberg M-500's for over 30 years.
