It eventually breaks down over hundreds of thousands of years...but I guess that means it's biodegradable. Just takes a h**l of a long time

Yes, and yesterday's plastic was also biodegradable.

Leave it in the sun and see for yourself.

Most of the "non biodegradable" claims came from digging deep into trash dumps where there is no light and little oxygen for decomposition.

Newspaper and is equally biodegradable at that depth.

I believe plastic is biodegradable, its just that some types of plasitc take a very very long to time to biodgrade.
