  1. Well I play it sometimes with my swim team, and its hard but fun. You get hit a lot.

  2. its not exteremly hard

  3. well after swim team , we always play water polo for fun  and competitevely , well water polo requires skill like every other sport , you need to know how to do above water freestyle , and how to balance the ball on your hand and be able to go out of the water with persission and shoot , remember water polo is a contactive sport you have contact with the other person , you have to steal the ball and be strong and keep it in your boundary , you have to have strong hands and shoot , and have enough force to push out of the water and shoot , when your the goaly , you have to take risks to stop the ball strongly with your hands , sometimes it may hurt and the force can break your finger but it's no sweat when you get the " hand " of it , excersises you'l need to practice a holding a water jug over your head , but you have to be in the water swimming with only your legs and your heads holding the jug when we do it for excersise we call it the egg beater ! water polo is not hard but fun , i think it's a great idea to join the water polo team , when you get to collage it counts on what sports you do including water polo ! well good luck !

  4. I did both in high school.  If you are a sprinter, it will be an easy transition.  All you do is sprint back and forth with your headup at all times (thats a tip, never put your head in the water, you wont be able to see the ball until...boink!).  Learn how to turn someone with your legs early on.  Do that and you'll be way ahead of the average beginner.  Oh, and when the coach says its time to tread water with the water jug over your head....Don't slack off, you'll need that leg strength.

  5. Water Polo is an unbelievably hard sport to uptake even if you are a competitive swimmer. It takes a whole different body condition. If you are a sprinter in swimming, have fun trying to last a whole game. If you are a distance swimmer, have fun on the fast breaks, hopefully you can get there before the other team initiates a counter attack and puts the ball in the back of the cage. I can say this with some experience as a Division 1 college athlete being taught by a coach that brought teams to the NCAA final four.

    Tips:

Learn, if you don't already know how to egg beater kick, and if you know how to, master it, it is how you will be able to get the most leverage out of the water.

  6. if you're currently a year round swimmer, you'll do fine

a lot of my swimming friends switched to polo at about you're age and they picked it up really easily. im assuming you're already used to the endurance stuff and you can swim pretty well, which are the hardest things so it should be fun

the only hard part is getting used to ppl kicking you underwater :)
