Question:

Isn't this disgraceful?

The fact that A-Rod was having a really bad night with the first game with the Red Sox, and Yankee fans were booing him down. He went 0 for 5 and the booing crowd got even bigger when he hit that ball on the ground and caused a double play.

What are your opinions on this? I hate those type of fans that don't stick with their team and players, that only like them when they're playing good. I'm a huge Yankee fan, but it bothers me that fans of my team boo my players.

  1. If I was getting paid what A-Rod is, I couldn't complain about anything.

  2. yeahhhhhh

  3. Hey HUGE Sox fan here. I can't imagine booing anyone on my team. Anyone can have a bad game, I think maybe the frustration of many Yankee fans are starting to show. Loving the win.... GO SOX!!

  4. those are called new york fans...i am one of them lol

  5. I'm not a baseball fan at all but the fact that they would do that to anyone is so disgraceful i mean i would hate if that happens to me i mean common one bad night is nothing but the fans just had to mack him feel like S**t i mean at least stick to him and cheer for him so that he accully might hit more! God!

  6. There frustrated with the Yanks. Obviously they want the Yanks to get into the playoffs and they boo at A-Rod because he can't do it when it matters. Look when its big pressure games. A-Rod chokes. Yank fans are frustrated and I really can't blame them. I did this at home with A.J. Burnett. I couldn't stand him because he would get 10 wins tops and was always injured. Now hes evolved into a very solid number 2 pitcher and I cheer him always. A-Rod has been great but hasn't been great when the Yanks really need him to be in these very important late august and september games.

  7. I'm more of a Red Sox fan but when I went to the game today when I was visiting New York, I found that as much as I disliked the Yankees, they're not the ones that p**s me off. It's the Yankees fans that p**s me off so much. When A-Rod struck out in the 4th and stopped a rally, a whole bunch of Yankees fans were chanting "Minor Leaguer! Minor Leaguer!" to A-rod...and i was like "WTF" you guys are rooting for the Yankees, not against him, give him a chance. The Yankees are acualy a decent team, the only reason I hate Yankees stadium is cuz the fans there are azzes.

  8. It's a shame, but that's part of it, you play in NY, and make the most money you have to come through in the clutch against your most hated rival, and it doesn't help that he's so unlikeable to begin with.

  9. Well, whether Yankees fans like it or not, they're a**holes.

You just don't boo the greatest player in the world, even if he has a bad day.

  10. New Yorkers are spoiled little girls, they are getting worse then Phillie fans

  11. It's a tough city to play in.  Just like in Boston, when in 2004 Mark Bellhorn was the 2nd baseman for the sox, often the Fenway faithful would chant "We want Pokey (Pokey Reece)".  Maybe they're booing him because he's paid so much money.  They have higher expectations of him than they do of any other player.  If he does not live up to those expectations they'll let him know what they think of it.  It's expected of a player who makes 30 plus million a year to get booed if he goes 0 for 5.

  12. Honestly,I do not know what to type first..the fact that the majority of people that answered this question and I may be wrong,, seemed to

have spelled words incorrectly or the fact that they do not know stats.......... For example,,,,THIS YEAR, IN THE 8TH & 9TH INNINGS, A-ROD HAS HAD A TOTAL OF (2) RBI'S.....LAST YEAR, WHEN THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER IN BASEBALL...AS MY BROTHER WOULD CALL HIM, CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAD 31 RBI'S, HE HAS CHOCKED THIS SEASON SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GET OVER YOURSELF A-ROD AND STOP THINKING YOU ARE THE END ALL THAT IS ALL!  JUST BE

LKE THE TRUE YANKEE FANS AND JUST LIVE FOR THIS...THE ONLY TIME THAT I CAN TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND FEEL LIKE I AM HOME, SINCE MY DAD DIED, IS WALKING INTO YANKEE STADIUM, WITH MY BROTHER, WHO IS INDEED AN A-ROD LOVER & TELL HIM...I GOT (4) RINGS, THAT IS WHY YOU MOVED OVER TO THIRD :-)  PUT UP OR SHUT UP, IF YOU ARE NOT IN, THEN YOUR ARE OUT & IF YOU ARE NOT IN, THNE GET THE **** OUT!

  13. I don't agree with the "Never boo your own players" policy, because if one (or more) of them is not playing well, they need to let them know they're disappointed.

However, I do agree Yankee fans booing A-Rod at the games doesn't help him much. Don't they realize that he's probably not gonna get a hit if they boo him PRIOR to an at-bat?! Sometimes I want to go through the screen to attack those fans. They're only hurting their team, obviously. And if you have to boo him, can you please wait till after his at-bat? Can't stand fans like that.

  14. yes

  15. Does anyone really think Alex wants to hit into double plays? Get a life people. Yes, he is over paid blah blah blah...baseball over pays players because us fans pay the high price. Don't like it stop going to the ballpark.

In 2007 Alex was the MVP but not this year. No player is great every year. It's baseball. Root for them all or shut up. Unless you see a player laughing at what he just did you can't complain. Every media outlet let's us know how hard Alex works out and maybe that is the problem-he tries too hard.  Alex is not Jeter and even Jeter was lackluster for a while. It's baseball.

  16. It would be different if he was going through a prolonged slumped. There isn't a tam around that would not want this man on their team. The "fans" you are talking about just do not know how lucky they are to have this talent in front of them.

  17. ARod is not the only Yankee not doing so well. Andy set the motion for a bad day.

If you are lucky enough to afford tickets to see them play than you need to root for them good or bad.  Booing will only result in more bad playing, and ARod's error is proof.

Tell someone they'll never amount to anything enough and they believe it and give up in life, baseball is not much different.

    Cheer people, Cheer.

  18. that how yankee fans have always been and always will be

  19. yes, tonight I watched the Yankee & Red Sox game.

I thought that wasn't nice of crowd booing him.  He is going through a divorce give him a break.

  20. Miss Manners: A-Rod is going through a divorce because he cheated on his wife...hard to call up a lot of sympathy on that point.

But, Yankee fans shouldn't get on their team, they should get behind them - the team needs support not put downs to encourage them. The same goes for all teams and all fans - try to be positive even when you are frustrated by your teams performance. (I'm a Mariners fan...it's been a very difficult year to stay positive!)

  21. The fans should be thankful that A-Rod re-signed with the Yankees. They need to get off his back. I am a Met's fan and I would love to have A-Rod on the Mets.

  22. omg one of my friends talks about that all the time.

    he's sooo mad

  23. It's not considered front-running. When they got him, he was the best player in baseball. They expect him to fulfill those expectations, and the fact that he doesn't is why they boo. With his salary, and his expectations, he should be able to get at LEAST one hit in a 5 at bat game, especially one that they cannot afford to lose.

  24. I don't agree with it either, but when the Yankees are paying him $170,000+ PER GAME, they expect more out of him than what they are getting currently. You make big money, big things are expected out of you.
