It rumour or fact?

Here in Brazil there Information coming from the internet that in schools the United States is taught that the Amazon is territory USA or territory of the UN. That is true?

That rumor is completely false. America recognizes Brazil, (rain forest and all) is a Sovereign nation.

Well I'm a freshman in high school so I'm going to tell you the truth.

No, our schools DO NOT teach us that the Amazon is territory of the USA.

Trust me, I would know if it was ours.  

In all aspect, I seriously didn't even know where the Amazon was.  I knew it was somewhere in South America.  haha

So the information is COMPLETELY FALSE.

Seriously, Americans don't just stay things are ours when it really isn't.

Except George Bush pretty much taking over countries and making it his. hahahaha

I am a product of the US school system.  I was never taught that the Amazon is US territory.

I do believe, however, that Amazon.com is probably within the US.  Maybe there is some confusion between the internet retailer and the geographic location?

That was funny! No, this is the first I've heard of it. Maybe someone's complaining about multinational companies trying to buy up the forest. But remember, some of those companies are looking to preserve the forests from being burned up by poor brazilian farmers.
