Itunes won't DOWNLOAD! help?

Question

I just got the iphone 3GB.

I had the itunes disk, so I put it in and downloaded.

It didn't work it said something like "Cannot find" then had a debug or ok button.

I hit debug nothing happened so then I went to the itunes website and downloaded it from there. after it was done I went to open it and the same thing happened!

Help please It's a waste to have an iphone and not have itunes haha
