Ive dyed my hair black?

Question

i used a semi-permanent nice and easy one. ive had it for three weeks and ive never washed my hair so much. i've been using head and shoulders to try to get it out but its not working. before the dye used to run when i washed and now all of a sudden it has stopped, i really dont want black hair. what should i do? i would rather not bleach it as i bleached it about two months ago and would rather not do it again, but if i have to i will. are there any dyes that go over black hair dye?

i want my hair to be any shade of red.

i Did exactly the same but i loved it , anyway their is no real way to get it out faster .it was 50 washes till my came out . is your hair brown or blonde im not sure but if you have gone darker than your naturall hair colour then im sorry but you will always have a tini of black i did mine a year ago and its only just gonee

Black hair colour is a nightmare to get out&unfortunately you can't put any colour over it. You have two choices- keep using head&shoulders and wait for it to gradually fade out or get the colour stripped.  A lot of salons don't seem to be doing this anymore though because as you know bleaching is very harsh on your hair.

I dye my hair black all the time and get sick of it fading so I'm jealous wanna swap???!!!

If you use a henna dye ive been told it will dye over black but then you would have to use henna again if you wanted to die over that. Lush in the UK do henna dyes and apparently even the post box red would dye over my black hair. The only problem is it takes hours to develop and is a pain to rinse out. But the good thing is there are no chemicals in them so no risk of reactions or damage etc...

Just a warning if you leave it as it is now for a few weeks and it starts to fade and you think ill dye it again but red be aware that even though it look like its faded all over it isn't even. Ive done it before thinking oh its gone all brown (my natural colour) ill try red and i had bright red roots and the rest went deep black/red!!!!

Also most shampoos like head and shoulders have sulfates in them and this makes the colour fade

Or just try to see how dying over it works out.

If everythings does not turn out ok then ask your hairdresser

Okay, firstly, don't drown your hair with chemicals.

Don't try to dye it over yourself. And definitely don't use the at-home 'highlighting' kits. Hairdressers laugh at those things. If you try to bleach it so much, it could wreck your hair. And washing it so often isn't good at all. So, do the best thing possible an go to the hairdressers! They should be able to fix it pretty quickly. If you don't want to splash out on getting your hair done expensively, ask them what you can do to help it.

definitely find Color Oops at a beauty store and then dye your color red over it

bleach will be unnecessarily damaging it because it wont do anything

idk. ummm use a really really red color and the black might blend wiff it so it will be like a lighter shade?

the bleach has made your hair porous which is why the colour isn't washing out, give it a week and see if it fades and then put a dark colur over it.

i was in exactly the same situation as you!

i dyed my hair black for just under 2 years then i wanted to go back to my natural colour... but it will take months for the black to fade.

i refused to put bleach on my hair!..i ended up shaving my hair off!....you could do that but if you dont want to be bald you could get your hair stripped  - but that is expensive and will seriously damage your hair....

not much you can do im afraid...

You'll have to bleach it before you use any other colour.

Typical that when you don't want a colour to last, it does + when you want it to, it doesn't!

Black hair dye is permanent, whether it says "permanent" or "semi-permanent" on the box. Some types of hair color will run a little the first few times you wash them. But the black will not wash out, and the bleaching you have to do to remove it may very well destroy your hair. You will have to grow it out.

You can put any color you want on top of it, but it will not show for the black.

I made the mistake of doing my hair black ( I have naturally dirty blond hair ) and in the end i had to have it stripped. It was not nice ! My hair felt awful for ages !

There isnt much you can do for it really. bleaching it is prolly your best option.

i think the only way you can get the black out is by getting your hair stripped so it takes you back to your natural colour, i might be wrong though

Sorry, hun. The biggest flaw of black hair dye (even semi-permanent) is that the pigment is actually more of a stain than a dye.

It's stained your hair and it's not going to come out, especially if you dyed black over bleached hair. When you bleach, your hair becomes porous and brittle, so it just soaked up the black and it's not gonna let it go.

Go to a salon and have them do a treatment that lifts & strips the colour out of your hair. It may be expensive but they can do it.

Use ColorFix to take the black dye out of your hair.

Then use a red dye.

You shouldn't attempt to go red without removing the black dye first.
