The Russian claimed that he is content with life in Lisbon but also admitted that were several tempting offers on the table.
Marat Izmailov’s time at Estadio Jose Alvalade has been marred with injuries and has prevented him from fully filling his potential. The 29-year-old is edging closer to the end of a career, which promised much but achieved quite little.
Since his arrival from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008, the midfielder has made 125 appearances, while netting 21 times. While his record is decent, the reality has been quite different as his season usually ends earlier than others or begins quite late.
This campaign was a perfect example of the frustration Izmailov suffers as he commenced proceedings brightly but ended up with a knee surgery in order to curb the problem that had been tormenting him for the past few months.
Although he has since then made his return, he has not displayed the same attacking verve that he was playing with before his untimely departure to the treatment room.
Sporting are though are quite steadfast employers and have shown immense faith in the player despite his frequent injuries.
Izmailov himself has also reiterated that his currently happy at the helm and has no wishes of leaving the Lions anytime soon.
Speaking to reporters, the Russian forward said that despite having a topsy turvy time at the club, he did not wish to part ways with them as he was enjoying himself.
"To be honest, I do not wish to leave. Despite all the difficulties I have encountered, I have always had Sporting’s confidence. I'm playing and happy with everything.”
He also added that he liked his current residence and plying his trade for the Portuguese giants.
"It's not even a dream. I like playing at Sporting and live here [in Lisbon].”
Lastly, he said that although was satisfied with his current situation, there were several offers for him from others sides.
“I would not want to play in other leagues, there are proposals that are difficult to refuse,” Izmailov was quoted as saying.
Sporting Lisbon’s title ambitions in the Primeira Liga are all but over but they remain in contention for a run in the UEFA Europa League, in which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marat-Izmailov-c23466 will be looking to play a major part.
