literally 5 minutes ago my jaw started clicking when i open it

its not extremely painful but it is extremely uncomfortable

it happens when i open it all the way

its really scary and i want it to stop

does anyone know what could be causing it?

also about 10 minutes ago i put on my retainer

its clear and is shaped to look like my teeth

i hadn't worn it in a long long time and i had to bite down on it for a long so that it would fit my teeth again

could this be why it started?

i read somewhere to take advil for inflammation and i already did

help!!!!!! i don't like this at all!

  1. TMJ or wisdom teeth i had the same problem

  2. Sounds like TMJ, can be very painful sometimes not. Talk with your dentist about it there are treatments that can be done. if this is a just happend kind of thing then give it a day or so to get better and take advil..

  3. too bad so sad!

  4. you stressed out your jaw by biting for a long time. stop messing with it. relax and take out the retainer see if it goes away. if it doesn't see a dentist or your orthodontist.

  6. that happens to me.

    it could be TMJ

its nothing serious, just a major pain in the butt.

i have TMJ and it sometimes bothers me. the other night i couldnt even eat.

good idea on the advil, but i use ibuprofen. it works better for me.

nothing to worry about though, if it is TMJ.

i would see a doctor though to make sure.

    :]
