Two questions...

First: Currently I haven one 12W7 running with the JL 500/1 and sometimes it fades in and out (hits harder then softer) I keep hearing this could be because when it was installed the ground wiring wasn't done right?

Second: I am in the process of putting in another W7 with 2 alpine MR 1000 and a secondary battery.....different alternator needed??

  1. If you already have issues with the sub output fading in and out playing the same bass note, you have power voltage issues.  The JL 500/1 should be wired with 4 gauge power & ground wires.  Make sure of this first before going any further.

With the additional strain of the new amps you're planning, you definitely will need to upgrade your alternator.

  2. sounds like you need a better alternator/battery think that should solve your probs.
