My JVC camcorder (the number on the bottom is GZ-MG21EK) is not doing anything when I plug it in. It shows up on My Computer, but no software that shows the videos opens up, and the camera deosn't charge. Any idea's on how to make the software, whatever it is, open up?

  1. Have you installed the software that came with the camera?

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

  2. pase the GZ number to the software link

  3. Go to the jvc website and email them. A friend of mine had a problem with his camcorder last year and they sorted it free of charge.
