Jack & Max Nickname or not?

Question

My husband and I love the names Jack and Max for boys and were considering the names Jackson Thomas and Maxwell Ryan. But we really just like Jack and Max, so what are some middlenames that sound good with Jack and Max or should they just stay nicknames?

How about Max just stays Max , not as a nickname. Just as a normal first name? Max Ryan is a cute nice name.

I think you should stick with Jackson and Maxwell.  These are really great names.  Jack and Max are also great, but you need to consider how they'll feel about these names when they're grown up.  You should give them an option.  Also, Max Ryan on a resume, doesn't sound quite as professional as Maxwell Ryan.  You want to give your kids as much opportunity as you possibly can... the name Jackson has more opportunity professionally than the name Jack.

I think the names you have chosen are nice but Jack and Max are good solid names on their own.  Jack Thomas and Max Ryan also sound just fine.

i really like Jackson Thomas and Maxwell Ryan. when they go to school theyre school friends arent goin to call them theyre full names..if i knew them my nicknames would be jack and max so either way they will end up being called jack and max both ways..

I think they should stay nicknames, but I'm not sure about Jackson. It sounds a bit too much lke a surname. What about John? Jack is a nickname for John, although it sounds quite old, and doesn't go that well with Maxwell.

I love Jackson and Maxwell! You can call them Jack and Max, but let them have choices as to what they want to be called as they get older. Plus, they sound too much like nicknames to me.

Yes, make them nicknames. If they only have such short names on their official documents they might feel short-changed when they grow up. They can always stick to the short form informally.

But don't use Jackson. (1. It's a surname. 2. There's too many redneck kids called Jackson.)

Jack is supposed to be a nickname for JOHN.

Jack is popular as a stand alone name, and Jackson sounds  so trendy right now I really can't stand it anymore. I like just Jack.

Jack Ryan, Jack Garret, Jack Henry, Jack Alexander - it sounds good with almost anything.
