Jacques Kallis ruled out after injury
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 have suffered a massive blow after their star all-rounder Jacques Kallis was ruled out of the third Test match against India at Kingsmead on Monday.
The right-hander injured himself during his marathon 161 in first innings of the match.
He will only take part in remainder of the match if his services are needed by the team. He was hit in the ribs during his innings and had to take painkillers regularly.
Team doctor of the Proteas, Mohammad Moosajee stated, “Kallis has been diagnosed with a contusion to the right rib area and accompanying muscle strain.”
Kallis is likely to miss the first two ODIs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 as well which will be played after the Test series and one Twenty20 match.
About Kallis’ recovery, Moosajee said, “The recovery time is two weeks; it can be slightly less or more than that. He will probably miss the first two one-dayers. He will definitely bat if he needs to in the second innings, but will not take the field.”
Commenting on his injury, Kallis stated, “It was a little bit sore throughout the innings but you've just got to get on with the job. Most games you play, there is a little niggle and it was just another niggle. Hopefully it doesn't keep me out of the game
for too long. While facing the ball, you forget the pain. Once you hit the ball your body reminds you that you are a bit sore.”
The veteran all-rounder is a key player for the Proteas in the field. He is a very handy bowler and a fielder. His spot was filled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 in the second slip on day two but de Villiers missed a crucial chance nearing the close of play.
Kallis is also very useful with his bowling as he has the ability to break partnerships at important stages of the game, but only time will tell how expensive his injury proves to be for the Proteas.
