Hi,

I have a Jaguar S-Type 2006 and I would like to fit the below:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/DIN/AVH-P5000DVD.

Do you think, I will be able to maintain the asthetics of the dashboard after fitting this in? Pls advise.

Cheers,

  1. take off the . at the end of your link.

It's a difficult install. Most shops will probably turn you away and others will do a bad job. This is an expensive breed of car so you should be familiar with everything that has to do with the car costs an arm a a leg. Take it to a high end audio shop and have them custom make a kit to hold the radio and look like it was ment to be there. It's not going to be cheap but it can be done. Make sure it is a high end shop though.

  2. Well bro what you need to do is find the best shop. Find out where everyone else goes.  When you go see them about it look to see how many cars they have and ask if you could see some of the cars they work on to see if they have a clean organized shop and the work that they are doing on the cars is clean and organized.  That kinda tells you what kind of shop they are.  When you talk to the guys at the shop ask him some questions about your car, and ask him some questions that have nothing to do with your car.  See how patient he his and if he stands there and talks to you or if he just trying to make a sell.

Ive actually done two of those cars in the past year.  We put a regular aftermarket deck in one and we put a double din in the other.  Its not a hard car to work on.  The only thing that you have to be careful of is not scratching any of the panels or the dash while removing them.  Make sure when you have it installed you tell the guys to to scratch your dash because even if they are good that will let them know you are paticular and they will be extra careful.  The other thing is bypassing the factory amp thats built into that cars stock sound system.  Those are the most time consuming parts.

Honestly though yes you can maintain the asthetics of the car.  And if they do it right if you ever get rid of the car you should be able to take that one out and put your stock one back in with out anyone even knowing it was ever removed.  Honestly that pioneer deck would look very good in that car and pioneer is known for making the best decks in the world

  3. There is nothing that looks worse than installing an aftermarket head unit into a nice high end dashboard. I absolutely hate the look of it and it definitely ruins the nice "flow" inside a car. think about it, there is simply no way they can manufacture a head unit that will look good in EVERY single car.

That is why they invented the JL cleansweep. This is how you would install speaker/sub amps in a car with an integrated factory radio as well. Im a big fan of it, I know two people with high end cars (335i and an older is300) that use this for they systems. Only downside of course is that you will need an aftermarket amp to power your speakers, BUT if your a true audio phile, the money, time and labor is definitely worth it.
