Hollywood has a long history of casting an actor or actress of the wrong ethnicity in a very ethnic role. This goes back decades.

They cast Italians as Puerto Ricans, they cast Chinese as Japanese, they cast Puerto Ricans as Mexicans.

- There was a recent movie about a Mexican immigrant single mother called Spanglish (2004). There are probably 80 million women who are Mexican or Mexican American. But the actress cast for the role was Spanish.

- The TV show "Lost" has an Iranian character played by an Indian actor.

Well, he certainly is good looking enough to play a prince.  Yes, I know that's a stereotype, but we're dealing with the movies here.

I REALLY don't think so. Perhaps you think it's a perfect match because you're American or English so you don't really know a lot about Persians or Iranians ( and there's nothing wrong with that) but for an Iranian, it's ridiculous because Jake does not look at all Iranian. I bet this is going to be another movie where Hollywood chooses the completely wrong people for the roles like in " The Other Boleyn Girl" where they had Anne Boleyn played Natalie Portman and Henry VIII played by Eric Bana.

I think an Iranian guy would have been best for Prince of Persia. And I don't mean a man with a long beard and a turban, as I'm sure you're imagining. Someone like Farzan Athari would be perfect. If you don't know who he is, just look at Google Images.

when you say perfect match are you refering to the role he has gotten or his relationship with reese? :) well refering to him playing prince of persia, i think he is absolutely perfect for prince of persia, now that i think about i always thought he reminded me exactly of a character like that. he seems perfect for the role. i think they hit the nail on the head for this one!!!!!
