Jamaican RUM!!!?

a friend of mine

is goin to jamaican next week

& i want her to bring me some rum back

What do you recommend i ask for???

What is the best rum out there???

And how much % is it???

I am also getting

loads of sour skittles

as ours our different in the UK

the real jamaican rum is APPLETON RUM.

I would have to say Appleton but, not the Appleton Special, it is cheaper and harsher. The VX has a smoother taste and it goes down alot easier.

After that try the Appleton Reserve and then the Appleton Extra

Appleton V/X is like 40 percent alcohol. It is a red rum with a nice flavour.

A bottle is for arouns $1200 Jamaican but chances are your friend will get it for a lot more money as she may be in a touristey shop.

Appleton Special Gold is also good and if you want white rum there is Appleton Genesis...

Appleton Reserve has a nice smell... It costs around $2000 jamaican.

21 year old rum is about $6500

That's just about all I know.

Myers is my favorite (40% ABV).

Can't go wrong with Appleton, especially the "estate" products. But they tend to be pricey. The generic "Appleton Special" is OK, IMO, and affordable.

Wray & Nephew "White Overproof" is sometimes called the national drink of Jamaica. Don't care for it personally, but it's 62% ABV...

Appleton Estate VX is the least you should pick up. The App. 'Special' is just party rum.

If your friend can afford it, go for the Reserve or even the 21-Year-Old Appleton Estate Rums. You will NOT be disappointed.

If interested in purchasing the full range, Appleton Estate White Rum is also a great addition to your bar. Its not the same as the common white rum (W&N) that is sold in Jamaica.

Appleton is a great rum. I am not sure if your friend has ever been to Jamaica before, but it is cheaper to buy rum at the airport when you are getting ready to leave at the duty free stores (no taxes). The only drawback is you are only allowed three bottles per person. There is no limit on the rum cream, which is absolutely wonderful just over ice. Hope this helps. Cheers!
