  1. i'm chinese but generally i prefer japanese.  I tend to like more bland stuff.. haha.  Plus chinese tends to be really oily

  2. Many Westerners have never eaten authentic food of either cuisine, except for those who frequently travel to Asia. One person actually said Americanised Chinese food is preferred over real Chinese food, which makes me wonder whether that person has ever actually tasted genuinely authentic Chinese food across the wide spectrum of distinctive regional cuisines.

I have personally seen elderly Caucasian couples who were totally blown away by real Chinese food, a completely different experience from the pale imitations they had eaten all their life in their local Chinese restaurants. Authentic Japanese & Chinese food is very light and refreshing on the whole (of course there are exceptions depending on the specific region), with emphasis on very fresh ingredients and the ability to taste the natural flavor & quality of the different ingredients without being overwhelmed by seasonings. Truly good chefs have no need to use MSG or heavy seasonings to mask poor skill & poor ingredients.

Personally I enjoy both cuisines, there is just so much variety & different cooking methods that you don't get bored. For some dishes, they are seasonal specialties that you look forward to once a year. You can also enjoy both traditionally prepared dishes and those with a modern interpretation. To those who give Asian food a thumbs down without having tried good authentic food, I say "Get real!" as in "Get the REAL stuff".

  3. Chinese - more choice more flavour

  4. I love both. They are distinct, yet have similarities.

The Japanese Yakisoba is a variation of Lo Mien.

These two cuisines are intertwined, and have many similarities: tofu, soy sauce, sesame and peanut oil, bean sprouts, stir-frying, hotpot, etc.

  5. Why pick one over the other?

I like both MMM MM MMM

  6. Chinese! The americanized kind, not the real chinese food.

  7. i don't like ether one

  8. I prefer both food.

  9. chinese; it might make a difference that i'm chinese, but a lot of my chinese friends love japanese food.

i just like chinese because i guess i'm used to it. and i don't like sushi or wasabi.

  10. I loooove Japanese..

  11. i love sashimi, sushi and maki but chinese food has wider variety of good food.

  12. Authentic Chinese or Japanese are both good!!!

    Stillwater's answer is great!!!

  13. I am a chef in culinary training (bobby flay, emril not kidding at all). So, the difference between the two is their spices. The food you eat at Benihana, or P.F. Changs, is doctored by American chefs. To tell the difference you must taste the actual recipe. And I prefer Chinese over Japanese. The Japanese cook with a lot of seafood and they use a lot of spice. The chinese way of cooking is very natural with home-grown vegetables, and mild spices. Occasionally with some beef or chicken. Only on special occasions do they eat fish.
