Question:

Job/college question?

So I decided, that I, almost for sure, want to be part of the hustle and bustle world, and maybe work for a big corporation. But a good one, like an organic food corporation, or for a magazine..like maybe National Geographic or Elle or People. And I know that those are big dreams, but I was wondering what would I have to go to college for to land a job like that? Like maybe do something with pictures, or editing, or something like that. Thanks!

  1. I say go for a Journalism major. If you would like a spot in magazines, being able to write well across all fields is essential. Journalism itself is exciting, and there are tons more you could explore within that subject, including advertising, TV broadcasting etc.

  2. Well, there are lots of careers out there that would help you on your quest. Depending on what you want to do for magazine work, you could consider a degree in journalism, photojournalism, advertising, photography, broadcast, accounting, law, marketing, etc. If you wanted the degree that would set you appart from the rest of the candidates for a job, you should have some beckground or a good degree in one or more of these areas. Some will also hire you if you speak a second language, so maybe consider taking courses in this area as well.

The apparent 'best' schools for communications / arts (includes journalism, photojournalism, advertising, photography, and broadcasting) degrees are:

    -Brooks Institute

    -Center For Digital Imaging Arts

    -The Arts Institute

    -Briarcliffe College

-College of Fine Arts And Communications

    -Slane College Of Communications

    Best Schools For Accounting:

    -University Of Texas

    -University of Illinois

    -Brigham Young University

    -Elizabeth City State University

    Best Schools For Law:

    -Cleveland State University

    -National Law university

    -Durham University

    -Stanford Law School

    Best Schools For Marketing:

    -Abilene Christian University

    -Adrian College

    -Chestnut Hill College

    -Trump University

    Best Schools For Foreign Languages:

    -Coastal Carolina University

-College of Notre Dame of Maryland

    -College of the Ozarks

    -University of Toledo

I hope this helps! Good luck! =)
