Question:

Jobs for a Civil engineer

I'm about to go to college, and I'm having a hard time deciding between petroleum engineering and civil engineering. I like both industries (construction and oil & gas), but I want to be able to have some flexibility if oil & gas goes bad like it has throughout the past 50 years periodically. Can a civil engineer hold similar jobs to that of a petroleum engineer?

  1. hi.. well, u r asking especifically for similar jobs, and the answer is yes. they are.. look....... there is a part of civil eng that studies the mechanics of soils and rocks.

u see here the way that "pilotes" are useful and so.. all the underground water... etc

so.... this is similar to the oil thing, but, gotta say it: much more interesting.

this is the most similar u r gonna find!

hope i helped.. and.. remember: do what u wanna do. but think that is 4 the rest of ur life!

by the way... these 2 careers are very different. u may want to think about what´s more "you" for a while

    good luck!

  2. Well, there are always going to be jobs for a civil engineer, since there are always new roads, bridges, stadiums, malls, and other kind of constructions to be built. In the other hand, petroleum engineers don't have as many options, but I think you should pick up whatever you want to do for the rest of your life, cause belive me, it is pretty hard if you do 8 hours a day something you don't like even if you earn good money.
